SABDEN Primary has a hearty and healthy parents, teachers and friends association (PTFA) and friends is just what we are!
The group meet regularly to discuss ways we can raise funds for the school and trust us, the emphasis is on fun.
Once a year we hold a summer or winter fair, we have raffles and competitions – the teacher/baby competition was a particular highlight – and our hampers have a reputation of their own!
For many years we have held a social for friends of the school in the form of a quiz. Held at the school in January, it is a chance to test those brain cells with a glass of wine or two, followed by pie and peas.
A couple of years ago we decided it was only fair to do the same for the children, and this came in the form of an end-of-term disco, held at St Nicholas’ Church Hall.
While all this is fabulously good fun, it also raises much needed funds for the school. This money subsidises trips to keep costs down for parents, helps to buy extra resources, pays for visitors to make topics more enjoyable and much, much more.
A few years ago, the PTFA paid for a foldable stage for school productions….and for the first time the audience could see the children!!!
Please keep a lookout for details of our meetings and come along if you have hours or ideas to spare!
The PTFA runs a 50 club which helps to raise valuable funds for our school. The Club consists of 50 members who all 'own' a number. There are prize draws three times a year in March, July and December where three numbers are selected at random to win a 1st prize of £25, a second prize of £10 and a third prize of £5. In December an extra Jackpot number is drawn to win a prize of £100. The membership for The 50 Club costs £15 per number annually and runs between January and January.
Unfortunately The 50 Club is currently at its maximum capacity but if you are interested in joining please contact Carole Thompson in school for more information or to be placed on a waiting list to join the club when places are available.
